We went on tour with Eric Clapton in South America. Sadly, we were filling the slot that Stevie Ray Vaughn had before he tragically died. Sometimes David Bowie was on the bill. Also Bryan Adams. But , at this point the Rolling Stones had never toured in South America, so the Mick Taylor band was treated almost like the Stones; private planes, limos, high end hotels. In fact , one show off on our own in Natal,Brazil, they had a banner in the town that said welcome the Rolling Stones! Our sound man called from the venue and said there were about 2500 Rolling Stones fans at soundcheck! We had to switch hotels and change our names! The mayor of the city made a TV public apology for the misrepresentation and folks got their money back. I thought it would be fun to play it.. just play mostly Stones songs!
